Bequests and Legacies
Bequests and Legacies, and gifts in memory are a meaningful way to support Fountain Hospice and Palliative Care Services. We are very grateful to everyone who helps the families we strive to support by leaving a legacy gift or making a donation in memory.
Bequests and Legacies
Once you have provided for those closest to you, leaving a legacy is one of the best ways to support a cause that is close to your heart, too. In this way, a bequests may be the most important gift you can give.
By remembering Fountain Hospice and Palliative Care Services in your Will, you are ensuring that others can be helped through the process of dying for generations to come. Legacies provide us with vital funds to be used to help others within the community by planning ahead and developing long-term programs.
There are three ways you can leave a bequest to us in your will
- You can specify a specific percentage or leave what remains in your estate (known as the residue) after you have provided for your family and friends. (This is the simplest option for you, as it doesn’t require updating)
- You can simply specify a fixed amount of money
- You can specify an asset, (such as property, jewellery, works of art of the like)
We recommend that you be guided in drawing up your will by a qualified professional and he or she will be able to advise you on the appropriate wording that should be used. To assist you in this regard, however, the following wording is suggested as a guide.
I give and bequeath free of all duties
- the whole (or %) of the residue of my estate, or...
- the sum of $(amount), or...
- (details of specific assets)
The Fountain Hospice and Palliative Service, 6/318 Sydney Road, Balgowlah, NSW, 2093, Australia (ABN: 66 758 592 499) to be used for the general purposes of the Fountain Hospice and Palliative Service, and I declare that the official receipt of Fountain Hospice and Palliative Service shall be sufficient discharge of the same.
Of course, if you already have a will your bequest can be added as a modification (Codicil) and the above suggested wording can be used as a guide. Again, we recommend that you should seek professional advice about how to do this.
A Codicil form is a very straightforward way of making a minor change to your Will, like adding your gift to the Fountain Hospice and Palliative Service. A Codicil form then becomes part of your Will and can easily be drawn up by your solicitor.
